Are you missing REAL German bread and rolls? I mean, ones that are actually MADE in Germany with German ingredients?

Now you can have them delivered right to your door in the USA  ... by The Brot Box.

Real German Bread? The Brot Box!

Yes, that's me. When I was asked by The Brot Box to review their homemade German bread, I have to admit I was skeptical. When they said they'd deliver it right to my door, I was even more skeptical. I said, sure.

I was eager to see how what was sent would compare to what we've enjoyed in Germany. (BTW, this isn't a paid sponsorship. I'll honestly let you know just what I think about this whole process of ordering bread instead of baking my own.)

I dove right into the box when it arrived. Take a look ...

What is The Brot Box?

The Brot Box logo

The Brot Box is an e-commerce online shop. It's THE place to get authentic German artisan bread and rolls that are made and pre-baked in Germany with naturally wholesome, additive-free ingredients. You then finish baking it for the about 8 to 20 minutes (depending on the item) fresh in your oven, filling your house with those German-bakery aromas.

Brotbox ingredients

Depending upon where you live in the States and how far you are from their location, the box will either have ice packs or dry ice. One-day shipments mostly ship with ice packs, and 2 to 3-day shipments ship with dry ice.

Since mine was with dry ice, my products arrived frozen. When I checked with the company to confirm if this was normal, it totally is. If delays occur in the shipment process, there are no safety concerns as long as they arrive cold. Since the products are all vegan, even this isn't actually a problem.

Shipping is arranged so that nothing ships over the weekend to facilitate quick shipping.

Unpacking and Storing

Unpacking was the fun part. Placed in the freezer, they will keep for up to six months until I'm ready to bake.

The packages are labeled with all the info needed to defrost and bake them. Breads and rolls have different defrost times, so that needs to be counted into the calculation for when to remove them from the freezer.

Breads can take around 2 hours to thaw. Rolls take about 30 minutes.

I have to admit, I took the Swiss Farmer's Loaf out the night before I needed it. I placed it in the fridge and baked it in the morning for our breakfast. It tasted as good as the aroma in the house. Lecker schmecker.

Baking Our Breads & Rolls

Thaw, bake, cool slightly, and enjoy.

It's really that simple. The instructions for baking are on each package.

I used my Kaloric MAXX Air Fryer Oven. It's my go-to for most of my baking, since it works the same as a regular oven, just much more energy-efficient.

Our Bread and Rolls:

Exactly like in Germany. Crusty outside, chewy inside.

My Review of The Brot Box

I think my hubby's first comment when he took a bite of the Baker's Rolls (Brötchen) says it all: “THAT IS GOOD”! I wish I had that on video because you should have seen that gleam in his eyes!

Overall, I was truly surprised and pleased with ALL the breads and rolls we tasted. Here are the main reasons why I think you really need to order some to try:

  • Everything tasted just like in Germany because it IS baked IN Germany. Authentic flavors and textures.
  • The convenience of having frozen bread available that is ready to bake, especially when company comes over.
  • Easy to bake, even in my air fryer oven, making it super quick to have them on the table to enjoy in almost no time at all.
  • Since no additives are used that extend the shelf life and freshness, items need to be eaten within a few days after baking. The rolls can be quickly reheated in the oven or sliced and toasted. Totally yummy!
  • Knowing these are filled with healthy, quality ingredients and no additives or preservatives, makes eating them even better. Each package has an ingredient list and nutritional information.
  • Easy to order (but only in the USA) — and I've even got a discount code for you — and when you order 9 items, the shipping is FREE!

Benefits of The Brot Box

My Final Thoughts ...

The Brot Box isn't just about having fresh German bread. It's about reliving German memories and taking a journey back to Germany without the plane fare!

This would make a wonderful gift for expats, people with Heimweh (home sickness), or just that someone special. (And remember, you are special too and deserve this!)

Thanks, The Brot Box, for bringing Germany closer to us in the USA.
