In Germany, brunch wasn’t always a thing. Traditionally, we had frühstück (breakfast) early in the morning—and sometimes even a zweites frühstück (second breakfast) later on. But the modern idea of combining breakfast and lunch into a leisurely brunch—yes, we use the same word—has definitely caught on.

Think of it as a slow, delicious blend of both meals, perfect for Sundays, holidays, or whenever Oma feels like spoiling everyone (which, let’s be honest, is often). A typical spread might include breads, cold cuts, sliced meatloaf, breaded schnitzel for those brötchen, cheeses, eggs, and a sweet bite or two—plus the occasional light soup or salad to make it feel fancy.

It’s not quite frühstück, not quite lunch—just the best of both, served with a pot of coffee and a whole lot of gemütlichkeit.

These bread rolls (Brötchen) are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just like the ones you’d find in a German bakery.

With a simple dough and an easy baking method, you’ll have fresh, homemade rolls perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or any meal.

Give them a try and fill your kitchen with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread!

Tschüss,
